The PJCE is proud to present a concert that moves this jazz non-profit into a completely new direction. In a first collaborative concert with a singer-songwriter in the organization’s seven year history, two brass and three saxophone players from the PJCE will join Catherine Feeney/Chris Johnedis duo on new arrangements by the very best of Portland’s indy rock-inclined jazz composers: Joe Cunningham, Reed Wallsmith, Barra Brown, Kela Parker, Noah Bernstein, and Douglas Detrick. The PJCE wind quintet features Douglas Detrick on trumpet, Lars Campbell on trombone, Lee Elderton on soprano saxophone, Mary-Sue Tobin on tenor saxophone, and Mieke Bruggeman on baritone saxophone. Blue Cranes, Portland’s favorite post-jazz jazz band, plays an opening set. (less)
